He strummed a few heroic notes on his inkcaster as the sand wave roared ever closer. With the final flourish, a Bolt glimmer took shape. The dog growled at the guard illusion and pierced him with an intense stare. To Venturo's surprise, the guard disappeared in a burst of misty light.

"Nice work!" Venturo shouted. Grinning, Martin tousled Bolt's white fur.
